The Joker and The Queen
Verily, I did pursue thee amidst a fractured limb, meandering in search of the fateful encounter with the world’s demise. Alas, thou didst descend into the earth’s embrace unaccompanied.
Verily, I have been on a quest to find a beacon amidst the shadows that engulf me, yet alas, I have not chanced upon it, for thou art the very embodiment of my darkness. I doth yearn to lay mine eyes upon it.
Each eve, thou dost startle me with a boisterous silence, whereupon I doth tightly seal mine ears in defence.
Verily, perchance I may discover true love amidst a myriad of noble Kings and Hearts, each adorned with a jewel’d ring of diamond splendour. Yet, even if such a marvel were to come to pass, I would ne’er forsake the love I bear for a Joker, despite his manifold imperfections.
Verily, I am accustomed to being ensnared in the snares of deceit, henceforth I didst keep mine cards nigh unto mine bosom, encased in a vest impervious to the projectiles of treachery. Thou didst appear, didst lend thine ear, and didst perceive the depths of my lament, and now we both embrace our flaws with ardour.
Verily, akin to the tattered cardigan that all doth cast beneath the bed, whereupon all doth roll their eyes and dare not lay a hand, thou dost seize it, tend to its needs, and then present it to all as a splendid and comely cardigan for their gaze.
But wherefore did my Joker hence depart? Verily, he did not expound nor converse with me ere his departure. Wherefore dost thou possess a guarantee that thou shalt make thyself return to me?
